# Legacy L1 testnet faucet

> How to claim test WBT from the legacy Whitechain Layer 1 testnet faucet for paying gas during smart contract development and testing on the network.

<Note>
  This page documents the legacy Whitechain Layer 1 (L1) testnet, chain ID `2625`. That testnet is live and producing blocks. It is a separate chain from the Whitechain Layer 2 (L2) documented in the rest of these docs. It is not migrated to the L2; it is superseded by Whitechain Sepolia, chain ID `1874`. For the Whitechain Sepolia faucet, see [Faucet](/learn/get-started/get-testnet-wbt).
</Note>

To fully interact with Whitechain testnet, you will need some test $WBT tokens, which you can receive using Faucet. Faucet is a service that provides test $WBT to Whitechain Testnet users. While these tokens do not have any real value - they allow Users to explore the whole system entirely without spending real \$WBT on the Mainnet.

<Info>
  To receive test \$WBT, add Whitechain to your wallet. [How to Connect Wallet?](/legacy/wallet-configuration)

**How to get test \$WBT from Faucet?**

1. Open the [Faucet](https://testnet.whitechain.io/faucet) page.
2. Find an "Address" field and enter your Ethereum-type address. Alternatively, the "Get from Wallet" button auto-fills it using a Web3 wallet connected to the Whitechain Testnet Explorer.
3. Select "Claim".
4. Once the claim transaction is created, you are redirected to its page.

<Info>
  You are allowed to claim only 1 WBT once every 24 hours.
